Announcing the formation of a new Knights of Columbus Council at SCS
admin May 31st, 2009
The Knights of Columbus, a Catholic men’s fraternal order, are taking steps to form a new Council at St. Catherine of Siena Parish. With over 1.75 million members, the Knights of Columbus work ardently for our Church, our community and our youth. We vigorously support and defend our priests and religious, we assist our law enforcement, public safety and health agencies, and we are in the forefront of the pro-life movement.
Today we seek to broaden the ranks of our Order so we can provide still greater service to the Church and the community of Vallejo by forming a new council to serve St. Catherine of Siena parish. Our institution date is scheduled for August 1, 2009. Father Jess Soriano, our Pastor, has given his permission and active support in these organizational efforts. The primary requirement for a man to become a member of the Knights of Columbus is he is a practicing Catholic. Minimum age for membership is 18. There is no maximum age.
We are currently planning on holding an informational meeting on the formation of the new council at St. Catherine of Siena Parish on Saturday, June 20th, at 2:00 pm at the School Gym. There will be refreshments served beginning at 1:00 pm prior to the informational meeting for those in attendance. Potential candidates are encouraged to bring their wives and families to this meeting. Current members of the Knights of Columbus are also invited as they transfer from their current Council to the new Council by completing a Form 100 Transfer document. Speakers at the informational meeting will include a representative from the California State Office, representative from our fraternal insurance pregram, and representatives from the Northern California Chapter and District 13. Members of the Knights of Columbus from the two other Councils in Vallejo will also be present to answer questions and provide an opportunity to those desiring to join the Knights with information on the organization and our programs and will be available until 5:00 pm to talk with those interested in the organization.
If you want to serve your community and your church, then the Knights of Columbus is an organization for you. Please join us on Saturday afternoon, June 20th, to find out more about our organization.
