The Legion of Mary is a lay Catholic association whose members are giving service to the Church, on a voluntary basis, all over the world. The basic unit of the Legion is called a praesidium, which holds a weekly meeting, where prayer is intermingled with instruction in the Faith and the work of the apostolate is discussed and planned. Active members are required to attend these weekly meetings at which they undertake an apostolic work. There are junior praesidia for persons under 18 years of age. Auxiliary membership is for those who wish to associate themselves with the Legion’s apostolic work by the support of their prayer.
For details on the Legion of Mary at St. Catherine’s call Ester Bauzon at 649-1210 or Raimon Llanos at 853-9108.

Catholic Youth Ministry Relaunches Blog
The Pope has a Youtube account. Plug “God” into Google and in under two milliseconds you are treated to over 533 million links. Even Jesus is on Facebook. The fact is the internet has swiftly become a new world for evangelization – for youth hungry for the faith, this is important. As Pope Benedict said in his recent address for World Communications Day, “Dear Brothers and Sisters, I ask you to introduce into the culture of this new environment of communications and information technology the values on which you have built your lives.” Responding to this challenge, the Catholic Youth Ministry of St. Catherine of Siena in Vallejo, California, has relaunched their blog just in time for the start of Lent.
The blog, affectionately known as CYMvallejo, can be located at http://cymvallejo.blogspot.com and is a site dedicated to presenting and promoting the mission of the Church in a way that is appealing and accessible to the youth. At the blog, the content has a wide range – you will find articles on Catholic apologetics, videos of breakdancing priests, and the latest in Catholic apparel. As an overview the blog provides Catholic content in the form of news, catechesis, media, reflection, and miscellaneous Catholic features.

Several Ministries in our parish need your help
Outreach Ministry needs cooks
St. Catherine’s Outreach Ministry is looking for two additional cooks! We have two teams who cook and serve on the 2nd and 5th Sundays of each month. EAch team alternately prepares dinners and serves up to 150 hungry people at the First Baptist Church in Vallejo. This call to ministry simply requires your cooking skills and being part of a team. The Outreach Ministry serves in conjuction with the St. Vincent DePaul Conference. If you are interested, call Darrell Nystrom at 642-7968 or Lani Cumpas at 747-1784.
Lazarus Ministry and Music
There is a Call to Ministry for instrumentalists to share their gifts in the Lazarus Ministry. These lay ministers would serve as part of a Lazarus Ministry team and provide the music accompaniment during Vigil Services for the Dead. If you have this talent to share, please call Amy Torio at 642-7520 or Deacon Rudy David at 333-1333.
Casting Call for the 2009 Passion Play
A search is being conducted for the cast and crew of our parish’s annual Passion Play. Holy Week is about two months away; but there is a call for main and supporting actors, singers, dancers of all ages. Scrip read-throughs are held on Wednesday and Fridays from 4 to 7 pm and on Sunday’s from 1 to 4 pm. For detailed info on the cast and crew needed, and if the performance world is where you God-given talents are, please call Gene Leoncio at 554-0264, or log on to CYM Blogspot.
