Our parish school commemorated it’s 25th year last Saturday. The eventful day began with a special liturgy. Fr. Colm O’Kelly was the main celebrant. Concelebrants were Fr. Jess Soriano, Fr. Michal Olszewski, Fr. Aldo Ranin, Fr. Loreto Bong Rojas and Fr. Martin Ramat. During a program held in the church, faculty members who have been at the parish school for over 20 years were honored. They were Mrs. Anne Healy, Mrs. Donna Phelps, Mr. Mike Coffey, Mrs. Susan Verducci, Ms. Janice Tunney, Ms Laurel Thurgood and Mrs. Janet Brandon.
Founding Principal Ms. Maryalice Clare and Founding Pastor Fr. Colm O’Kelly reminisced,
sometimes tearfully, the early days of our parish school which began in 1985. The first graduating class of eighth graders graduated in 1992. After the media presentation of the last 25 years, parishioners, alumni and their families continued the celebration in the school gym. Renewing old friendships with handshakes, hugs and an hors d’oeuvres lunch amid memory boards of the students who attended the elementary school made the day even more memorable!
Thank you to everyone who made this celebration special!

Catholic Schools Week is the annual celebration that focuses attention on the good work done by the nation’s Catholic schools. “Catholic Schools – Dividends for Life” is the theme selected for Catholic Schools Week 2010. In these challenging times, the theme also reminds parents that the dividends of a Catholic school education—students prepared in faith, knowledge, morals and discipline—last a lifetime. There is no better way to invest in a child’s future—or the future of our world.” Marie Powell, executive director of the Secretariat of Catholic Education of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, noted: “We realize that in most parts of the country a Catholic education is not without some cost. But I can’t think of a better investment in the future than to invest in the education of a child.” The logo designed for the week features a cross superimposed on an outstretched hand. Rays coming from behind the hand express the concepts of faith, knowledge, morals and discipline—all beneficial aspects of a Catholic education.
