40days for Life

All are invited to “Kick Off Rally”40days for Life. September 20, 2009 at St Basil Catholic Church at 11:30 Am Mass. Rev. Walter Hoye will be the guest Speaker. He is the founder of Issues4Life. He was jailed for refusing to stop offering help to pregnant women outside an abortion cliniic in Oakland.

Short program after the Mass
Finger food will be served.

All volunteers from St.Vincent, St Basil, St. Catherine, St. Dominic, and first Baptist Church will be together to celebrate this event. Sign ups to volunteer in the prayer vigil site will be this Sunday of aug 29th and next Sunday September 6. The campaign will start September 23 – Nov. 1, 2009.

Vigil site is 990 Broadway St. Vallejo.

Stand up for the unborn. They have no one to protect them.

NFP Awareness Week

The week of July 19th – 25th celebrates the the Natural Family Planning (NFP) Awareness Week in the United States. Unlike the Rhythm or calendar) method, NFP methods are solidly based on scientific research and provide an effective, reliable and natural way to achieve or avoid pregnancy morally within God’s plans for Christian marriage and sexuality. NFP reflects the diginity of the human person within the context of Christian marriage and can deeply enrich the bond between spouses.

We also recommend that parishioners make voluntary acts of mercy, sacrifices, some fasting and abstinence, special prayers for the intentions of respect for life at all levels, love for children, end to abortion, etc.

Pista Sa Nayon: Independence Day

All parishioners are enjoined to celebrate the Pista sa Nayon, the commemoration of the Philippine Independence Day on June 6, 2009 from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm at the Vallejo Marina. Free admission. Rex navarette and Charmain Clamor will highlight the event. Also, there will be a Thanksgiving Mass in connection with the same celebration on June 14th at 11:30 am. Free lunch will served after the Holy Mass. Show your Filipino pride by wearing your Pilipino costume.

CSS of Solano County provides assistance

Catholic Social Service of Solano County (CSS-Solano) provides a counseling center, named New Pathways Counseling Center, for all parishioners and their families who need a place to be heard and to hear themselves in a safe, confidential setting.

For those in grief, with depression, with relationship issues, with parent-child difficulties, for caretakers of an ill family member or aging parent, and for those in transition through illness or divorce, please call (707) 556-9137 ext. 203 to inquire about counseling. The director is Katherine Moore, MFT.

The center has a sliding scale for fees and staff is eager to meet your needs and address the needs of those you love.

CSS-Solano is committed to feeding the hungry and there are many ways to feel hungry in our current culture. Sometimes one is hungry for understanding, support, self-awareness and new insights.
