  1. I would like to commend St. Catherine’s for the recent Easter Vigil. This was my first time attending a Holy Saturday service, and I found it not only beautiful, but spiritually inspiring. I brought along my husband, who is Jewish, and he was not only touched by the ceremony, but the devotion of the congregation and the wonderful choir. We both enjoyed Father’s sermon, particularly about letting go of the old and bringing in the new.
For me, it has brought a whole new meaning to Easter and the Resurrection of Christ. Thank you.

There are too many disabled handicap violators . I have a 95 yo mother that I need to bring to church every sunday and there are a lot of people violating the handicap parking. Others who double park have handicap stickers too but maybe they can come earlier and avail those parking. One time I have to put a paper on someone’s windshield because they were strong enough to walk even though they have a sticker. I am tempted to call the police every sunday but I am suppose to be there to honor the LORD but it is very irritating. Something has to be done.

  3. I am just confused that with all the money and constructions in our Parish,
how come we do not have a private confessional? Is the sacrament
of reconciliation not as important for our Parish.
Father Jess, himself admitted that parishioners might be embarrassed
to do confessions because he knows most of them.
I have to go to SF to do my confessions because of privacy or because
the priest do not know me personally.
I am already repentant and personally embarrassed of my sins, I do not
to be distracted subconciously thinking that every time I’ll meet my pastor
that I think he is thinking of my sins because he is also a human being….
    thank you…

    • Be not afraid, no need to worry says:

There are times I too am afraid to confess my sins to Father, I have experienced being in a box and sitting in front of different Fathers from different churches. My best experiences were face to face. Because in that moment, they sense that your nervous, they sense the child heart in you. They speak gently to not scare you. And when you really take the time to confess yours sins, frustrations, and opening your heart to Gods ears and arms, that’s when you can embrace and appreciate box or no box with a moment with God.

Our pastors and priest are bound by the seal of confession.

God knows you, and loves you, be filled with gracefulness.

      • I agree with the original post. St. Catherine’s desperately needs a traditional confessional.

Has anyone thought of converting the room in the back of the choir?

Finally, it isn’t about a priest speaking gently to you nor does it concern a priest seal of confession or a penitent’s concern about God’s love, it is about offering to the faithful an appropriate area for one of the most important Sacraments the Church. And, simply because some feel comfortable in a face to face setting, many of us do not.

        • Dear jodyr_togonon@yahoo.com

Thank you for your suggestion that there be an adequately “private” area for the Sacrament of Reconciliation. I apologize that there could not be, at this time, a traditionally specific Confessional box. Nevertheless, the space near the right side door (leading to the school) of the church might satisfy the need for more privacy. There is already a movable screen there and we have placed a curtain to cover the area. In the very near future, we will put a light bulb (if, when lighted), would indicate the presence of a priest ready to hear confessions and celebrate the Sacrament.

    • I’m sorry for your loss. To offer a Mass intention, we would normally ask that you come to the parish office. Since you are out-of-town, please give our office a call at 707-553-1355 and ask for Lynne Magat, our parish secretary. She would be happy to help you.

      God bless you,
