The Hospitality ministers set the tone for the celebration. They greet the Assembly as they arrive for Mass, making everyone feel welcome. During the liturgy, the ministers of Hospitality continue their ministry as hosts of the service by finding seats at appropriate times, gathering monetary gifts during collection, choosing the gift bearers at the Offertory, directing the flow of traffic during Communion, and making themselves available for fellowship after Mass.
Hospitality Ministers need people with big smiles and a lot of patience. Youth age 14 and up are welcomed to join! We meet every quarter for updates. We serve the Lord in the service of our neighbors, helping the parish and people, parishioners and non parishioners.
During the pandemic, hospitality ministers have more important tasks to consider. They have stepped up in an increasingly important role. In addition to the above responsibilities, they are ensuring that safety measures are followed so the faithful can worship safely. They are making sure that all attendees provide their names and phone numbers, sanitize their hands, wear masks and observe social distancing. The ministers also disinfect the seats or church pews after mass.
