The Eucharist defines the Christian life, because when we receive the Eucharist, we receive Jesus himself. This Sacrament is not only the second of the Sacraments of Initiation, but the source of summit of our faith. We do not just get to simply know him, or have a relationship with him, but deep intimacy with him. We receive him physically into ourselves every single time we go up to receive communion at Mass. As Jesus says himself:
“Amen, amen, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you do not have life within you.Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him on the last day. For my flesh is true food, and my blood is true drink. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me and I in him.
John 6:53-56
At St. Catherine’s we invite you to come worship with us at mass and to receive Jesus in Holy Communion. Please check out the mass times page for all the times we celebrate the Eucharist.
